Given the precarious political and security situation in Egypt, including the death of 53 over the weekend in fighting between security forces and former president Mohammed Morsi supporters, it is hard to imagine that a huge Christian youth conference being held for three days by over 11,000 youth from 250 churches from all denominations could actually be a reality.

But from Sept. 26-28 the "One Thing 2013" youth conference took place for the fifth year in a row in a stadium inside a church conference facility out in the desert 70 miles north of Cairo.

Thousands of youth gathered to seek God's will not only in their own lives, but in their own country of Egypt as well. It was a major operation to transport thousands from their home cities, towns and villages to the conference venue. About 4,000 youth came all the way from various southern Egyptian cities, even though Egypt's train system was suspended due to security threats. 

Around 7,000 young people had to commute each day back and forth from Cairo, Alexandria and other nearby cities in order to attend the conference. To make sure people came and left on time inside curfew hours, and buses safely commuted everyone, was a daily miracle. None of these hundreds of cars, vans or buses engaged in any minor or major road accidents—something that Christian Egyptians don't take for granted. 

The young people came to hear what the Lord had to say to them and dedicate their lives and their early youth years to Him. The main prayer for the conference was that God may set apart these young people as a whole sacred generation for Himself and for the work of His Kingdom. 

They were encouraged to live faithfully for the Lord; to be prepared with a heart of love vigilantly waiting for His timings, so that when the day comes for the Lord to release signs and wonders, He will find this generation of Egyptian Believers ready to receive His glory and do His work on earth, as it is in Heaven. Millions watched the conference sessions live on two Christian Channels, while tens of thousands watched live over the Internet. The Internet participants were not only from all around Egypt, but also across the Middle East and even worldwide.

A Facebook post by a Muslim journalist, who joined her Christian friends to visit the conference out of curiosity, posted: "Over the last three days, I've witnessed the activities of a large Christian youth conference where massive numbers of people gathers around one theme: love, the essence of Christianity. I went there with a group of other Muslim friends and we were overwhelmed by the spirit of love that spread out all over the place, from people who have just been facing a severe wave of attacks, burning, looting—people who had been severely suffering by (the actions of] fanatic Muslims. I was surrounded by a massive crowd of people who were taught to love and forgive. Their genuine spirit of love and angelic worship did not leave my thought!" 

Egypt is ranked No. 25 on Open Doors' 2013 World Watch List of the worst persecutors of Christians.

 

埃及军事政变

7月4日，在埃及发生军事政变推翻总统穆尔西的第二天，埃及大法官曼苏尔宣誓就职临时总统。

两年前埃及爆发人民革命，在开罗解放广场示威的人群最后汇集成不可阻挡的民主洪流，冲垮了穆巴拉克的独裁统治。今天，埃及再次爆发革命，这次，是推翻了民选的总统穆尔西，但成千上万埃及民众在解放广场上载歌载舞、放鞭炮焰火，欢乐的气氛跟两年前一样。

应该怎样看待这场埃及革命？上次推翻穆巴拉克，受到国际社会普遍支持（虽然奥巴马政府晚了几拍），但这次是结束一个民选总统，西方民主国家处于两难：

从民主宪政原则，民选总统不可被街头运动推翻。但是，这又不是典型的军事政变，因为军队虽然出面，却没有谋求政治权力，而是立即组成由埃及首席大法官为临时总统的、清一色是文职人员参加的过渡政府，军方并承诺尽快制定新宪法，举行全国大选。

不仅这个“路线图”是朝向民主，而且这次倒穆尔西，是埃及各种政治力量和民意的体现，在解放广场和主要城市，最多时有1400万示威者（埃及人口八千万），之前要求穆尔西下台的联署人数，高达2200万！

民意的要求是结束倒向伊斯兰主义的穆尔西政府，军方的做法是追随民意。这种做法不仅在中东，在全球近代民主政治中都是罕见的。但虽罕见，却并非没有先例，在民主的土耳其，就曾经发生多次。

强烈认同、欣赏西方文明的土耳其开国之父凯末尔将军，就曾留下这样的遗产，只要土耳其政府走向伊斯兰宗教化，军队就出面，推翻那个（即使民选的）政府，重新大选，直到有了不再倒向伊斯兰宗教化，而是继续朝向世俗化的政府。土耳其军队从来没有直接掌权，每次“干政”之后，政府回到世俗民主派手里，军队就回到军营，还是一支专业化军队，所以军队在土耳其人民中享有很高的声望。

今天埃及军方的做法，几乎就像是凯末尔将军的传人，完全是土耳其军队的做法——用军队干政的方式，阻止埃及这个中东人口最多的国家滑向伊斯兰宗教化。

一年前，埃及首次民主选举，埃及最大的伊斯兰组织（曾被美国列入恐怖主义）“穆斯林兄弟会”的首领穆尔西以微弱多数当选总统。他承诺成为全民总统，而不是推行“穆斯林兄弟会”路线（并宣布退出该组织）。但是，一年来，穆尔西的做法越来越遭到埃及人民的质疑，他所属的伊斯兰势力在国会占了多数，制定的新宪法，不仅扩大总统权力，同时倾向把埃及变成伊斯兰宗教化国家。这引起埃及世俗化各派的愤怒。再加上穆尔西掌权后，埃及的经济更加恶化，失业率高达13%，整个社会弥漫对这位来自“穆斯林兄弟会”的总统不满和不信任，最后危机爆发，连续的示威抗议和冲突，导致几十人死亡，1200多人受伤，最后军方出面谋求解决危机。

从美国、英国、欧盟等目前的反应来看，基本都是倾向支持开罗解放广场所体现的民意（要求），认为穆尔西没有顺应民意，固执己见，才造成这样的危机。所以美国的表态是“不选边站”。在穆尔西要被推翻之际，美国不选边（欧洲国家也多如此），其实就等于是选择站在开罗解放广场的示威人民一边，或者说默认埃及的这种变化，顺其自然了。事实上，即使美国和西方国家全力支持穆尔西，也无法阻止埃及的这种变化、这种人民的要求。

埃及出现第二次革命，穆尔西本人要负主要的责任。这点可以从跟印度尼西亚的比较中看得很清楚。印尼是世界上最大的穆斯林国家（伊斯兰教信仰者被称为穆斯林），穆斯林占印尼2.4亿人口的88%（这和埃及差不多，穆斯林在埃及占90%）。但2004年苏西洛将军（Yudhoyono）当选印尼总统之后，实行的政策在很多方面跟穆尔西正相反，所以印尼至今政局稳定，经济增长，没有宗教和世俗派的冲突，更没有民众示威要求总统下台。而且苏西洛在2009年再次当选总统（至今）。

苏西洛实行了什么政策，导致印尼跟埃及这么不同？最重要的一点是：苏西洛掌权后，没有致力意识形态，没有把印尼宗教化。

苏西洛不推行宗教化，而是致力市场经济，吸引外资，重心放在经济增长上。因为只有降低失业率，人们有工作，生活水平提高，再加上民主政治，社会才会有长治久安，民心才会稳定。而推动市场经济，就要亲西方，因为西方大国，尤其美国和欧盟等，才有经济实力，才能帮助印尼经济腾飞。苏西洛亲西方的主要政策，一是加入美国领衔的全球反恐力量，二是全面改善跟欧美国家的关系，加强军事和经济合作。于是，印尼在苏西洛领导下，内部局势稳定，政府又亲西方，欧美商家当然就愿意去投资了。

在全球经济不景气的大环境下，印尼在苏西洛这种内外政策指导下，经济却连续增长，去年（2012年）的经济增长率达到全球第二高（6.3%），仅次于中国（7.8%）。这个全球第三大民主国家（按人口排列为印度、美国、印尼），被《华尔街日报》称赞为“穆斯林民主样板”。

而埃及总统穆尔西上台后，却走了另外的路线，他不是把重心放在发展经济、推动自由市场上，而是放在意识形态上，致力推动伊斯兰主义。新宪法写入倾向伊斯兰主义的条款，并在由穆斯林兄弟会掌控下的议会通过。

西方观察家指出，“穆尔西政府在艺术、教育、媒体、新闻与宗教等关键职位上的任命，进一步加剧了民众的不满情绪。国家电视台开始改变风格，播出的政治节目与爱国歌曲越来越多。”埃及评论家说，穆尔西试图“用穆斯林兄弟会的思想改造埃及民众……把穆斯林兄弟会的利益和事业置于埃及之上”。这些都加重了埃及人民的恐惧。


穆尔西势力会卷土重来吗？当然他有自己的支持者。埃及的局势虽然可能还会有动荡，甚至穆尔西的支持者走上街头，但因为群龙无首（穆斯林兄弟会40名主要成员都被军方扣留），最后可能无法阻挡这种大势所趋、民心所向。

美联邦最高法院判决婚姻保护法违宪

美国联邦最高法院以5比4的微弱多数判定“联邦婚姻保护法” (DOMA) 违宪，这个判决被看作是美国同性婚姻运动的一大胜利。

 联邦最高法院的判决实际上涉及两个问题，一个是1996年由前总统克林顿签署的“联邦婚姻保护法 ”，这个法律将婚姻明确定义为一男一女的结合，并且禁止给与同性伴侣与已婚的异性配偶同样的联邦福利待遇。

 另一个问题涉及加州选民在2008年投票通过的州宪法修正案“8号提案”。加州的联邦地区法院和联邦第9巡回上诉法院先后以违反宪法第14条修正案的正当法律程序为由，宣布反对同性婚姻的“8号提案”无效。


肯尼迪大法官在代表多数法官的意见书中指出，“联邦婚姻保护法”因侵犯同性伴侣自由与平等保护的权利而构成违宪。这项判决意味着，10万多合法结婚的同性伴侣因此可以享受只有已婚异性配偶才能享受的联邦福利待遇，例如税额优惠以及养老金的权利等。

 但是，以阿利多和托马斯为代表的少数方大法官指出，虽然同性婚姻体现了一个高度情绪化和重要的公共政策问题，但并不是一个难以解决的宪法问题。他们说：“美国宪法不保障有结成同性婚姻的权利。”

但法庭回避就“8号提案”的法律事实本身作出判决，而只是针对法律程序问题判决说，联邦最高法院和联邦上诉法院均不具备听取有关案件的司法管辖权，这意味着联邦地区法院早先做出的废除“8号提案”的判决因此成立，从而为加州恢复同性婚姻扫清了道路。

 联邦最高法院作出判决的当天，来自全美各地支持和反对同性婚姻的人士一大清早就聚集在联邦最高法院门前，为各自的理念摇旗呐喊。早上10点08分，法庭作出判决的消息传来，人声鼎沸。随后，代表同性恋者提起诉讼的律师队伍从法院出来，走向等候的人群。


美国民调显示，越来越多的美国人开始倒向支持同性婚姻，就连美国总统也不例外。当年在“联邦婚姻保护法”上签字的克林顿总统如今却表示，这个法律是一个错误。

 奥巴马总统在获悉联邦最高法院的最新判决后发布声明表示祝贺。他说：今天的判决对为了得到法律承认的平等待遇而长期奋斗的伴侣来说是一个胜利。不过，奥巴马的立场用他自己的话说是经过了一个“演变”的过程的。在2008年总统竞选辩论中，他曾明确表示婚姻为上帝所配合，而且是一男一女的结合。到了2012年，他在接受美国广播公司采访时突然公开表示支持同性婚姻，从而使他成为第一位支持同性婚姻的在任总统。

 奥巴马说：“我认为，同性伴侣应该有结婚的权利。”

 根据加州大学洛杉矶分校“威廉姆斯研究院”今年2月公布的一份调查报告，美国目前有近65万同性伴侣，其中约11万4千1百人合法结婚，10万8千6百多人结成民事结合或注册的家庭合作伙伴关系。

Last week, in Nice, France, I was privileged to participate along with 30 scholars, mostly scientists and mathematicians, in a conference on the question of whether the universe was designed, or at least fine-tuned, to make life, especially intelligent life. Participants — from Yale, Princeton, Harvard, Berkeley, and Columbia, among other American and European universities — included believers in God, agonistics, and atheists.

It was clear that the scientific consensus was that, at the very least, the universe is exquisitely fine-tuned to allow for the possibility of life. It appears that we live in a “Goldilocks universe,” in which both the arrangement of matter at the cosmic beginning and the values of various physical parameters — such as the speed of light, the strength of gravitational attraction, and the expansion rate of the universe — are just right for life. And unless one is frightened of the term, it also appears the universe is designed for biogenesis and human life.

Regarding fine-tuning, one could write a book just citing the arguments for it made by some of the most distinguished scientists in the world. Here is just a tiny sample, collated by physicist Gerald Schroeder, who holds a Ph.D. from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he later taught physics.

Michael Turner, astrophysicist at the University of Chicago and Fermilab: “The precision is as if one could throw a dart across the entire universe and hit a bullseye one millimeter in diameter on the other side.”
Paul Davies, professor of theoretical physics at Adelaide University: “The really amazing thing is not that life on Earth is balanced on a knife-edge, but that the entire universe is balanced on a knife-edge, and would be total chaos if any of the natural ‘constants’ were off even slightly.

Roger Penrose, the Rouse Ball Professor of Mathematics at the University of Oxford, writes that the likelihood of the universe having usable energy (low entropy) at its creation is “one part out of ten to the power of ten to the power of 123.” That is “a million billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion zeros.”

Steven Weinberg, recipient of the Nobel Prize in Physics, and an anti-religious agnostic, notes that “the existence of life of any kind seems to require a cancellation between different contributions to the vacuum energy, accurate to about 120 decimal places.” As the website explains, “This means that if the energies of the Big Bang were, in arbitrary units, not:

But instead:

There would be no life of any sort in the entire universe.”

Unless one is a closed-minded atheist (there are open-minded atheists), it is not valid on a purely scientific basis to deny that the universe is improbably fine-tuned to create life, let alone intelligent life.

Additionally, it is atheistic dogma, not science, to dismiss design as unscientific. The argument that science cannot suggest that intelligence comes from intelligence or design from an intelligent designer is simply a tautology. It is dogma masquerading as science.

And now, many atheist scientists have inadvertently provided logical proof of this.

They have put forward the notion of a multiverse — the idea that there are many, perhaps an infinite number of, other universes. This idea renders meaningless the fine-tuning and, of course, the design arguments. After all, with an infinite number of universes, a universe with parameters friendly to intelligent life is more likely to arise somewhere by chance.

But there is not a shred of evidence of the existence of these other universes — nor could there be, since contact with another universe is impossible.

Therefore, only one conclusion can be drawn: The fact that atheists have resorted to the multiverse argument constitutes a tacit admission that they have lost the argument about design in this universe. The evidence in this universe for design — or, if you will, the fine-tuning that cannot be explained by chance or by “enough time” — is so compelling that the only way around it is to suggest that our universe is only one of an infinite number of universes.

Honest atheists — scientists and lay people — must now acknowledge that science itself argues overwhelmingly for a Designing Intelligence. And honest believers must acknowledge that the existence of a Designing Intelligence is not necessarily the same as the existence of benevolent God.

To posit the existence of a Creator requires only reason. To posit the existence of a good God requires faith.

基督徒該抵制向同性婚姻獻媚的星巴克嗎？

同性婚姻爭議在美國持續燃燒。去年，吃不吃福來雞激起了有關婚姻定義的口水戰；今年，喝不喝星巴克咖啡再度引爆傳統婚姻與同性婚姻公開較量的火藥庫。面對高舉同性婚姻的星巴克，基督徒今後要不要喝？ 星巴克與其它支持同性婚姻的大企業有些不同。一般的企業為了討好各方群體，在婚姻議題上出口比較謹慎，不太敢張揚；但星巴克卻宣稱把同性婚姻定為該公司的核心價值觀，讓一些人感覺太過囂張，無法接受。 星巴克總裁霍華德‧舒爾茨(Howard Schultz)在該公司年度會議上，以「擁抱多樣性」為理由表達他對同性婚姻的支持。諷刺的是，對於現場持異議的董事，舒爾茨卻沒表現出紳士般的包容度，他語帶尖酸的回敬道，「不滿意的話，你就賣掉星巴克的股票拍屁股走人，沒人留你。」 星巴克高層支持同性婚姻的立場遭到很多福音派基督徒與傳統婚姻支持者的抨擊。有信徒痛批舒爾茨「包容多樣性」是自欺欺人，「對於上千萬因信仰緣故支持一男一女婚姻的福音派信徒，舒爾茨能否也展現一下包容性？」 星巴克支持同性戀不是新聞，但這次如此高調的支持確實讓很多保守人士心寒，甚至迫使一些老基督徒顧客下狠心抵制，發誓在其認錯前一滴星巴克的咖啡也不沾。其理由也很簡單，「基督和星巴克，你更愛誰呢？」虔誠的基督徒都會選擇前者。 全美婚姻組織(The National Organization for Marriage )也在發起針對星巴克的聯合抵制行動。該組織認為，星巴克作為有影響力的美國公司，要為自己的言行負責；同性婚姻對社會負面影響深遠，傳統婚姻支持者應用抵制的方式讓星巴克為自己的錯誤言論付上代價。 不過，口頭號召的抵制執行起來並非易事。熟悉美國的人都知道，美國人可以不吃雞，但不能不喝咖啡，尤其有很多人無法抗拒星巴克咖啡充滿誘惑般的香味。........

為此，紐約維護一男一女傳統婚姻協會主席黃宗澤曾向本報表達立場。他表示，每個基督徒在投神聖一票之前，需要很認真的在神面前禱告，求主賜下智慧，並把一切結果交托在主的手裏，相信祂完全掌權。 對於今天為要不要喝星巴克咖啡而感到糾結的基督徒而言，黃宗澤的良言或是他們一個很好的參考。但問題關鍵在於，「面對誘發香味的星巴克咖啡，你有專心為此禱告嗎？」

新闻：巴黎万人游行反同性婚姻

请为明后天(2/26-27/2013)最高法院的听证会和华府婚姻长征迫切代祷。不要等到我们落入象法国一样政府完全拒绝考虑民意的境地。


法国30万名反对立法同性婚姻合法化的民众，2013-03-24日在巴黎展开游行，警方以催泪气体驱散示威群众。

法国参议院将于4月审议国民议会已经表决通过的同性恋婚姻法案，反对这项法案的民众24日下午在巴黎举行抗议集会，8公里的大道挤满示威者。抗议组织声称有140万人参加，警方估计约30万人。

这是反对同性恋婚姻法案民众第三次大规模抗议活动，反对党议员大都号召民众上街游行制止政府通过法案，巴黎西边环城道路大塞车。示威者高举拯救婚姻、拯救家庭、有父亲母亲才有孩子等标语，高呼家庭是一父一母口号，有人还把自己的孩子高高举起，展示捍卫传统家庭的决心。法国司法部长曾表示，不管反对声音多强，政府都要继续推动这项法案，而且拒绝就同性恋婚姻问题举行全民公投的提议。

一些反同性恋婚姻法案的法国人穿着写有“所有人都是由一个 女人和一个男人生的”字样的短衫 , 响应天主教会、右翼反对党及其它社会团体的呼吁，参加在巴黎的反同性婚姻游行。

1月29日，法国国民议会对总统的竞选许诺，同性婚姻和同性恋家庭领养儿童的法案进行投票。日前，司法部长已经表示：不论今天抗议规模的大小，政府都将坚持保留这项法案，并拒绝了部分右派提出举行公投的要求。

据报道，今天的游行，走在前面开道的是天主教和穆斯林等宗教团体的领导人，还有第一大在野党人民运动联盟的主席，让• 弗朗索瓦•科贝。据主办方介绍，法国各地的示威者乘坐多辆专列和900辆大轿车，在今天上午，到达巴黎。游行队伍，下午一点，从巴黎、东南，南部和北西的三个地点出发，最后汇集在埃菲尔铁塔下结束。

代祷！聯邦婚姻保護法受到挑戰

名稱解釋：
8号提案（Proposition 8，简写为Prop 8）是美国加利福尼亚州2008年11月的一项州宪法修正投票提案。该提案致力于将加利福尼亚州内婚姻关系的定义仅限定于异性之间，从而否定同性婚姻。由 于8号提案从根本上改变了加州宪法对婚姻的定义，因此废除了加州最高法院在婚姻平等案例中的判决。

聯邦婚姻保護法（DOMA－Defense of Marriage Act）是1996年9月成立的美國聯邦法令，目的在於解决聯邦和各州彼此間的認同問題，判定合法婚姻為一男一女之間。此法令以大多数票通過國會和議會， 由克林頓總統簽署。在此法令下，美國個州或任何下屬政治管轄區毋需承認他州的同性婚姻。保護法第三章确認同性婚姻不被任何聯邦級別所承認，包括政府職員福 利，社安受益人福利，移民和夫妻聯合報稅等方面。
